O sangue vermelho, excitantemente quente, produzido pelo fogo que queima como que um espelho quebrado, reflecte imagens de um visionário romântico, flamejando a imaginação como foguetes, cores brilhantes, pulando a luz das chamas em paixão. Assim, juntamo-nos agitando as asas e voamos para um lugar muito longe, tão longe que todos os sonhos deixam de ser utópicos.

Aqui apresento a primeira pérola encontrada no fundo do mar, para um dos contos do livro, A Sereia Curitiba, de Rhys Hughes, a ser editado pela Livros de Areia.

Aqui está uma fotografia tirada da minha mesa de trabalho, em que estou a cozinhar algumas ilustrações, para o livro que vai sair neste Verão, editado pela Livros de Areia, do indomável autor Galês, Rhys Hughes que escreveu a brincar com as palavras de língua portuguesa, A Sereia de Curitiba.

O trabalho de ilustração deste livro que esta Editora me propôs tem-me dado bastante prazer, até ao momento, visto também gostar de livros e ilustração. Ainda por cima, vinda duma nova Editora, em que tive oportunidade de conhecer outros livros já publicados e ter gostado dos trabalhos anteriores já editados, onde tentam marcar a diferença, recorrendo aos autores que não são muito divulgados no mercado nacional e apostar em novos ilustradores ou artistas plásticos portugueses, que estão em fase de desenvolvimento, nesta montra de novos ilustradores portugueses, desafiando-os a compor uma estética no livro, fresca, pessoal e moderna. Dando assim novas oportunidades de poder conciliar os textos com imagens de linguagens ainda pouco espalhadas, apostando na criatividade e particularidades dos diferentes ilustradores que colaboraram com esta editora. O que para mim é uma valorização acrescida, pois poder conciliar os meus desenhos com a liberdade de poder casar com este livro, foi como estar a receber a brisa das ilhas dos sonhos.

Por isso, vou tentar mergulhar bem fundo e tentar apanhar as pérolas que encontrar escondidas no fundo deste mar, e oferecê-los a todos os leitores que também amam a leitura ilustrada.

A new breeze on my desk

Here is a photo that I took from my desktop, where I am cooking some illustrations for the new book that will come out this summer, edited by “Livros de Areia”, the indomitable author of thi book, Rhys Hughes, wrote this book in ingles and will be translated and published only in portuguese, playing with the words of portuguese language, “A Sereia de Curitiba”.

From the moment the Publisher proposed me to illustration this book, it gave me much pleasure, seeing I also like books and illustration. Moreover, coming from a new and young Publisher, and, which I had the opportunity to meet other books already published and liked the previous work already edited, were they try to make a difference, using authors, that are not disseminated in the national market and betting on new portuguese illustrators or visual artists, who are in the development phase, this showcase of new illustrators Portuguese, challenging them to compose a fresh aesthetic for the book, as also personal and modern. Giving new opportunities so you can reconcile the texts with images of languages still somewhat scattered, betting on creativity and particularities from different illustrators who collaborated with the publisher. What to me is an increased recovery, to reconcile my drawings with freedom and able to marry them in this book, it is like receiving the breeze of the islands of dreams.

Therefore, I will try to dive and find from the bottom of this sea, some of the hidden pearls, and offer them to all the readers who also love to read illustrated books.
